Curriculum
At Bodmin College, we use learning cycles to give structure to the school year. These cycles set out clear blocks of time for teaching, assessment and feedback, so that students, teachers and parents all know how learning is progressing and what the next steps are.

Key Stage 3 (Years 7-9)
- The school year is divided into two learning cycles, each lasting around 18 weeks.
- Within each cycle, students are introduced to new content, practise and develop their understanding, and then complete assessments.
- Teachers then revisit and address any gaps or misconceptions to make sure learning is secure before moving forward.

Key Stage 4 (Years 10 & 11)
- Students prepare for their GCSEs through planned assessment points.
- This includes practice exams known as Walkthrough Mocks, followed by more formal Pre-Public Examinations (PPEs), which are sat across all schools in our Trust.
- These assessments help students become confident and prepared for their final exams
Our approach to Curriculum & Assessment
- The curriculum is carefully planned across the five to seven years a student is with us, so that knowledge builds in a logical order.
- Teachers follow the CELT Chronicles framework to ensure high-quality teaching that helps students know more and remember more over time.
- Parents and students are always informed in advance about what assessments are coming up and what they will cover.
- Assessments are consistent and fair, allowing us to track progress and give clear feedback on strengths and areas for improvement.
- Students receive regular feedback, with opportunities to reflect on their work and act on advice to improve further.
This consistent structure means that every student at Bodmin College has a clear pathway through their learning, with regular checks on progress, and strong support to achieve their best.
