Inclusion Hub
At Bodmin College, our vision is to create a truly inclusive environment where all students feel seen, supported, and empowered to reach their full potential. We believe that early identification of need and tailored support are key to enabling every learner to thrive and live a life of boundless opportunities.
A learner has Special Educational Needs or Disabilities (SEND) if they have a significantly greater difficulty in learning than their peers, or a disability that prevents or hinders them from accessing the educational facilities provided. Learners with SEND require additional or different provision to overcome barriers, make meaningful progress, and develop the skills needed for inclusion and independence.
Our Inclusion Team provides graduated, personalised support that is responsive to each learner’s needs at the time. We work collaboratively with staff, families, and external professionals to remove barriers to learning, promote high expectations, and ensure all students feel valued, understood, and empowered to succeed—both in school and beyond.
At Bodmin College, inclusion is not just a department—it is a shared ethos that underpins everything we do.

EAL Support
At Bodmin, we celebrate the rich diversity of languages and cultures in our community. We are committed to ensuring every learner can thrive academically and socially while developing confidence in English.
Our EAL provision includes:
- Early assessment of language need so that appropriate support can be implemented
- Tailored in-class support and learning materials, with a focus on pre-teaching vocabulary
- Access to language learning software or translation aids when needed
- Small-group or one-to-one language sessions when needed
- Opportunities to be part of peer mentor systems, pairing new students with supportive classmates
- Co-curricular activities, such as debate, drama and storytelling to develop oral language skills
- Strong partnerships with parents and carers
Through these approaches, we aim to build both strong English language skills and a deep sense of belonging, so every student can achieve their full potential.
