Hello!

We're the Year 7 Peer Mentors at Bodmin College, and we want to give you a huge welcome as you get ready to start your secondary school journey.

We know that moving from primary school to a bigger school can feel exciting, nerve-racking, and maybe even a little bit overwhelming. The good news is that every single one of us felt exactly the same way this time last year. Now, after completing our Peer Mentor training, we're here to help make your transition as smooth and enjoyable as possible.

There is so much to look forward to at Bodmin College. You'll meet new friends, discover new subjects, take part in exciting activities, and have opportunities to challenge yourself in ways you may never have imagined. Every day brings something different, and before long you'll feel right at home.

One of the best things about Bodmin College is the support available to students. Your tutor will help you settle in, stay organised, and feel confident throughout the year. Your teachers are friendly, encouraging, and always willing to help you succeed. And if you ever have a question or need some advice, the Peer Mentors will be there too.

We remember wondering how we'd ever learn our way around such a large school, but it didn't take long before we knew exactly where we were going. You'll be surprised how quickly you settle into new routines and become part of the Bodmin College community.

There are also so many opportunities to get involved outside of lessons. Whether you enjoy sport, music, dance, drama, art, creative writing, or something completely new, there is a club, team, or activity waiting for you. Getting involved helped us build confidence, make new friends, and feel part of the College community really quickly, and we'd definitely encourage you to give new things a try.

Over the coming weeks, we'll be visiting your primary school and we're really looking forward to meeting you. We'll be happy to answer any questions you might have about life at Bodmin College. No question is too small – we've all been where you are now, and we know how helpful it is to hear from students who have recently made the move themselves.

Starting secondary school is the beginning of an exciting new adventure. There will be lots to learn, new people to meet, and plenty of opportunities to create memories that will stay with you for years to come.
