Quality of education: Requires Improvement

Behaviour and attitudes: Good

Personal development: Good

Leadership and management: Requires Improvement

Sixth form provision: Requires Improvement

Strengths Highlighted:

  • The college has high expectations for behaviour. Students report a calm learning environment where they feel safe and supported.

  • Pupils appreciate recent improvements in behaviour policies and the support they receive when raising concerns, such as bullying.

  • A wide range of extracurricular opportunities is available, including sports, drama, music, and leadership roles.

  • Personal development is a real strength, with age-appropriate education on relationships, safety, and life skills such as driver awareness.

  • The school has made improvements in attendance monitoring and in support for pupils with SEND, especially those in the specialist resource base.

  • Safeguarding is effective, with a strong culture of care across the school.

Areas for Development:

  • Some pupils, including those with SEND and low literacy levels, need better targeted support to access the curriculum effectively.

  • Assessment methods need improvement to better identify and address gaps in learning.

  • More tailored guidance is needed to help students choose the most appropriate and challenging courses at Key Stage 4 and Post-16.

  • Many of the school's improvement strategies are newly introduced. Leaders must now focus on embedding and evaluating these changes to ensure long-term impact.
