Year 11 Exams - Access Arrangements
At Bodmin College, all public examinations are conducted in line with the regulations set by the Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ). The JCQ is the national body representing the UK’s main awarding organisations (including AQA, Pearson Edexcel, OCR and others) and it sets the rules that all schools must follow to ensure exams are fair, secure and consistent across the country.
We strongly encourage students and parents/carers to read the JCQ Information for Candidates guidance carefully. This guidance is designed to help students avoid common mistakes that could jeopardise results and to ensure the highest standards of academic integrity are maintained. It explains expectations around exam conduct, equipment, mobile phones and smart devices, coursework authentication, and the serious consequences of malpractice. The Information for Candidates document can be found here: Information for candidates – Joint Council for Qualifications
If students are unsure about any aspect of the guidance, they should speak directly to their subject teacher, our Exams Officer or our Access Arrangements Coordinator, who will be happy to provide clarification and support.
Access Arrangements
Access arrangements are adjustments made to ensure exams are fair and accessible for students with a specific need or disability. At Bodmin College, all access arrangements are awarded in line with guidance from the Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ) and are not a matter of parental or student choice.
Any arrangement must be clearly evidenced and reflect a student’s normal way of working in lessons and assessments over time. Decisions are made by the school’s Access Arrangements Coordinator in consultation with staff and in accordance with JCQ regulations. Parents and students with questions are encouraged to make contact as early as possible.
