On December 4th & 5th 2019, Bodmin College hosted CRY heart screening for 218 young people aged 14-35. The college has supported fund raising for Cardiac Risk in the Young after ex student, Tom Demaine died 4 years ago.
In addition to the heart screening we also ran CPR training on both days, the use of a defibrillator, choking and the recovery position to the whole college. This was initiated by an ex student and other healthcare alumni volunteered as well as students and staff from Plymouth and Exeter universities, Bodmin Fire officers and other contacts who are trained in CPR.
The college also collected on the day for a defibrillator on site and received donations from the Lions, Rotary, Masons Beacon Lodge and KD Chapman &Co.
