FdA Digital Media
BA(Hons) Digital Media
"The work shown by the students is regularly of professional standard such that it is used by the clients themselves which is probably the most meaningful critical evaluation of their work. The integration with local (and wider) industry and the use of visiting lecturers, who all work professionally in their industry, gives the students an almost ‘osmotic’ experience of working as a professional which plays out clearly when they talk about themselves and their work. It gives them a natural feel for how to develop themselves and their work as freelancers.”
In conjunction with Falmouth University, Bodmin College are pleased to offer both FdA Digital Media and BA(Hons) Top-up to a full BA(Hons) Digital Media courses.
Our two-year Foundation Degree (FdA) is influenced by, and a product of the emerging practices and technologies of Digital Design & Arts Industries. These multi-disciplined course fosters collaboration and experimentation, fusing traditional and digital media to shape new forms of communication.
On completion of the FdA, students have the option of a 3rd year at the college to top up to the full BA (Hons).
The BA (Hons) Digital Media combines creative, critical and digital craft skills for students looking to develop a career in different media industries including digital photography, digital advertising, screenwriting, graphic design, blogging, social media, journalism and film production to name a selection.
Our Digital Media courses are for students with a passion for creative technology, media production and computing, offering a vibrant home for photographers, filmmakers, designers, artists, gamers, writers and other image-makers.
Both Courses provide a small, supportive and immersive learning experience for students. The small scale enables us to offer our cohort incredible collaboration opportunities with industry experts and mentors, guest speakers and work placements and are invaluable in preparing for entry into the creative industries.
On graduating students have been successful in securing roles in the industry, including GMS Graphic Media Solutions, Pepper Communications Ltd, Annes Cottage Marketing Team and a major photographic exhibition funded by FEAST Bright Sparks Programme, opening September 2021. As a freelancer one of our students has over 250 music artist clients, most based in America and has produced designs for a Grammy nominated music producer, and has worked with some of the leading labels in the industry including Empire and Universal.
Live industry projects, working alongside local and international clients provide invaluable professional contexts in which to develop your ideas and portfolio.
Highly motivated staff, with a passion to support innovative learning, encourage risk taking and experimentation at all stages of the creative process, and support the application of skills to new and emerging markets and contexts.
