Journalism Club

Journalism Club is open to all; KS3, KS4 and KS5 and students. Students work together to create a real college magazine, ‘SKIVE,’ and online edition. The club not only provides students with valuable work experience but also provides students with the opportunity to get their work seen by leading industry professionals as the final magazine is entered for the national Shine school media competition.

Shine School Media Awards is a national award judged by leading media professionals such as editors from; The Daily Mail, The Telegraph, BBC, TES and Cosmopolitan. It gives pupils the chance to get their work judged by people in the industry.

Bodmin College has enjoyed previous success in the competition, in 2014 the college magazine came first Nationally in the Best Design & Layout category and was awarded runner up for; Best Overall Magazine, Best Business Strategy and Most Inspirational Student. Also, in 2013; the Bodmin College team came runner up in two categories; Best Cover and Best Design and Layout.

So, if you want to develop your journalistic skills across a range of mediums join Journalism club. The club meets every Tuesday in T5 3.30pm to 4.30pm. The club is led by the student editorial team and supervised by Ms Stott, Head of Media, who is a former journalist.
