Ten Tors Walking Club
45 Mile Dartmoor Ten Tors (open to Year 12)
The challenge requires students to walk over 45 miles across Dartmoor in 2 days, unaided and unaccompanied. The event usually takes place in the second weekend in May and training starts in September. There are six people required to be in a team and the best six will be chosen based on commitment, fitness, teamwork and determination. Previous experience of walking and camping is an advantage but comprehensive training will be given: Not everyone is capable of completing this endurance event and further fitness training (in the students own time) may be required.
Training will follow the same days as Gold DofE with the addition of 3 extra walks not including the event. Most Ten Tors participants also choose to do DofE Gold as the training for one can be used for the other. Please note however that the intensity is much harder and the training for this event should not be entered into lightly.
