Our Sporting Academies are run by ex-Professional and ex-International players and coaches, that’s what makes them a cut above the rest, unique and extra special. Sports include:

The Coaches

Football Academy

Jamie Lowry was born and raised in Newquay. At the age of 16 he signed for Chesterfield with his Professional debut coming against West Ham utd. He went on to play over 100 league games for Chesterfield wining league 2 and the JPT trophy. He later, played for Crewe Alexandra and Plymouth Argyle. Recently Jamie has focused on coaching football, both at Bodmin College and also part time with Exeter City at their development centre. For further details regarding the Football Academy contact

Mixed Martial Arts

Mark Thomas was born and raised in Cornwall, he started Jujitsu at the age of 18 and is currently a Purple belt. He also specialises in Kick Boxing (with a black belt) and wrestling, which has given him a fine reputation as a coach in MMA at Koncept Gym in Newquay. He has developed some good fighters from his Gym, some of which have travelled all over the world to fight. We are very pleased to have someone with Marks experience here, to lead the MMA academy. Netball Academy

Sian Morgan has taken over the Netball Academy. Sian was born in Abergavenny, Wales and represented both Wales and British Universities in Netball. Sian is a qualified PE teacher with a great reputation and we are extremely pleased to have her on board here at the Academy. The girls are going to benefit massively from her playing experience and the fact she still plays, ensures she is current and up to date with everything that is changing in the game. Rugby Academy

ian morgan2Ian Morgan joined the Academy in January 2015, prior to joining the Academy, Ian represented Royal Air Force & Combined Services, Cornwall 18’s, 21’s and Seniors. During this period Ian played against Argentina (twice), Romania, New Zealand Maoris and the Barbarians 4 times. Ian played 2 seasons at Championship level with the Newbury Blues, before returning to Cornwall and take up coaching. He is currently coaching the Cornwall Senior XV and the Under 20’s, leading the seniors to Twickenham in 2014. Prior to coaching within the Cornwall setup, Ian coached the Royal Air Force and the Combined Services. Outside of the representative game, Ian has coached at several levels, he has worked with the Cornish All Blacks as backs coach, Cornish Pirates as kicking coach and most recently helped lead Brixham RFC to promotion to the National leagues. Our Stars

Ebony Dover

Ebony Dover

Ebony made her football debut against Millwall Lionesses. Ebony was the youngest player in the team, representing Yeovil Town Ladies. She has since played against Watford Ladies and Doncaster Belles. Ebony trains weekly at Yeovil with the team, as well as training sessions in Bodmin, whilst maintaining her commitment to her studies.

George Spencer

George Spencer

George is currently the reigning County champion in swimming and has represented England and the South West. George is just recovering from an injury but is due to compete again very soon and we wish him all the very best.

Kyle Gratrix

Kyle Gratrix

Kyle has represented Cornwall under 18’s at Rugby this season.
