6th Form Council

President – Jonty Colman

Hello my name is Jonty Colman. I am the current President of the 6th Form Council, which involves running the Sixth Form Council, chairing all meetings with our Council and also the School Council, as well as taking on board regular ideas as to how our 6th Form community can be made better.

I’m studying Media, English Language, BTEC Sport and Statistics, with an aim to do a degree in Sports Business & Broadcasting, which will hopefully lead to a career in Sports Journalism. I am the head drummer of the Bodmin College Jazz Orchestra as well as being part of the Football Academy.

I am very excited about my year as President and being part of the Council. I am sure this will be a fantastic opportunity which will help me with later life skills and, at the same time, make our 6th Form as good as it can be!

Vice President – Josh Galvin

Hi my name is Josh Galvin and I am the Vice President of the 6th Form Council at Bodmin College.

I previously studied at Bodmin College from Year 7 through to Year 11 and saw the 6th Form as the best possible platform for University.  The staff were known to me and I knew they would give me the support I needed to get the best possible ‘A’ Level grades.

I am studying ‘A’Level Psychology, English Language and PE.  I am also a member of the Football Academy.  I am looking at many possible career paths when I complete higher education and I chose these subjects because I was passionate about them and they allowed me to leave lots of doors open for the future.

I am very excited to be Vice President and look forward to being an integral part of getting the student voice heard and hopefully making changes for the better of the students and college.

Secretary – Ellen Newman

Hi, my name is Ellen Newman and I am the secretary for the sixth form council; I am currently studying Chemistry, Maths, Fine Art and Physics and I hope to study chemical Engineering at university. I take part in Paired Reading and am an Art Ambassador.

I am currently in the process of completing my Gold D of E with the school and am going to Japan in the summer with the scouts. The staff at Bodmin College have been very supportive and I highly recommend the Sixth Form to any future students.

I previously attended Looe Community Academy before joining the Sixth Form.  I am currently studying the CACHE Level 3 Diploma, which I thoroughly enjoy.  In the future I intend to study education at degree level, with a view to becoming a Primary School teacher.

In my own time I enjoy music, both listening and playing, reading and spending time outdoors; especially in the sea.  Bodmin College and its range of vocational courses are something I am extremely passionate about.  I aim to voice the opinions of all vocational students and improve their experience in the Sixth Form, so please do not hesitate to speak to me with regard to any ideas or concerns that you may have; I am very approachable and would love to help!
